In 2005 the college was privileged to be granted the status of a Research Institution by the Visveswaraya Technological University. The institute offers popular undergraduate, postgraduate and research courses which are highly demanded with various specializations. BMSIT is recognized by AICTE and is affiliated to VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University). To fulfill this demand and nurturing the noble cause of higher education BMS Institute of Technology was started under BMS Educational Trust founded by by Sri B M Sreenivasaiah and his illustrious son, Sri B S Narayan in the year 2002 and is one of the six institutions under this trust. With the increase in demand for skilled labor the demand for technical education also increased.
